Well, we are all absolutely exhausted after N’Ukefest 2014 – a full weekend of ukulele playing with some of the talented and nicest people you could care to meet.
We arrived on the Friday and had a bit of luxury camping to look forward to as we took the caravans down to the new festival site for 2014 The Cotton Arms, Wrenbury. Quite a few folk turned up on the Friday and the place was soon rocking out with various ukulele clubs and performers taking great advantage of the brilliant sunny weather, jamming outside or within the pub.
So many clubs and artists to name, but the Saturday evening concert was a brilliant night…with some excellent diverse acts. Ooty & the cloud, Dead Mans Uke, Krabbers, Phil Doleman The N’ukes of course….and little old us. A wrm and sweaty set, as we crammed into an old ‘school hall’ hut, next to the pub.
Mary Agnes Krell, and Rob Collins, with help from many others ran the raffle stall impeccably throughout the weekend with all proceeds going to The Wingate Centre in Wrenbury and also Macmillan Cancer Support. 1700 tickets for the raffle went on the Saturday alone! So by early Sunday, all tickets had been sold and £2000 was raised.
Keep your eye on http://www.gotaukulele.com/ for a full review of the festival. But we wouold just like to say a massive thanks to the N’ukes and everybody else involved for hosting a brilliant festival! Oh aye!
